Your Grace,
GOODWILL MESSAGE TO NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE LENTEN SEASON
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, felicitates, on behalf of the entire Muslim Community in Nigeria, with our Christian brothers and sisters on the commencement of the Lenten period.
Though fasting is a basic religious duty in our twin faiths, its period like this offer us another ample opportunity to supplicate to God and seek His divine blessings afresh for ourselves and country. It is therefore our belief that the period will be used to advance righteousness and promote the ideals of peaceful and harmonious co-existence in the country as advocated by our faiths.
We pray that the Almighty Allah accept the religious duty to be observed during the period and make its impact manifest positively in the lives of Nigerians in general.
While congratulating Your Grace and the entire Christian community on this auspicious occasion, we wish you many happy returns of the Lenten period and ceaseless heavenly blessings.
Yours faithfully,
Prof. Is-haq O. Oloyede
Secretary General
For and behalf of the NSCIA
