NSCIA MOURNS THE DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

NSCIA President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar

PRESS RELEASE

NSCIA/HQ/PRS/085                                               19th Muharram 1447 AH                                      14th July 2025

NSCIA MOURNS THE DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un

With submissive hearts to the unalterable decree of the Almighty Allah, we of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of the President-General, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, mni, CFR, mourn the death of our esteemed former President, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.  His departure to his Creator on Sunday, July 13, 2025 marked the end of an eventful journey characterised by sacrifice, service and commitment to national development.

Former President Buhari was a beacon of integrity and discipline who lived a life anchored in the principles of Islam and inspired millions of people through his personal example and public conduct. Honoured to lead Nigeria as both a military and civilian leader, he left indelible imprints on the pages of our national history. His life and legacy demonstrate the power of faith, persistence, discipline, humility and abiding faith in the Almighty Allah.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife, Her Excellency, Hajia Aisha Buhari, his children, extended family, the Emir and Emirate of Daura as well as the Governor and people of Katsina state and the entire Muslim ummah.

We equally commiserate with our dear President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the transition of his political associate and predecessor. We pray that the Almighty Allah grant him, the Federal Government and the entire Nigerians the fortitude to bear the loss.

For those of us still alive, it is important to draw inspiration from the Glorious Qur’an about what awaits us: “Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion?”( Quran Aal Imran, 3:185).

In this moment of grief, we beseech the Almighty Allah (SWT), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, to forgive his shortcomings, envelop him in His boundless mercy, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, the highest abode in Paradise. May his grave be a garden from the gardens of Jannah, illuminated by the light of his good deeds and the love he inspired among the faithful.

May the Almighty Allah (SWT) bring comfort to our hearts, guide our leaders, unite our nation in peace and bless us with a life of service, discipline humility and faith. Ameen.

Signed.‌
