Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun
With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) receives with high sense of loss, the passing on of Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, the very first Secretary-General of the Council and 18th Sultan of Sokoto, on Monday 14th November 2016.
His outstanding contributions and pioneer roles in the establishment and survival of NSCIA and JNI geared towards the upliftment of Islam in Nigeria would ever be remembered. It must also be told that, Late Alhaji Dasuki was instrumental to the building of the Abuja National Mosque. Hence, the story of Islam in Nigeria cannot be completely told without his exemplary contributions. This indeed is an irreparable loss to the entire Nigeria Muslim Ummah.
He was the only person that served both as the Secretary-General and President-General of the NSCIA though at different times. He served as the pioneer Secretary-General between 1963 through 1988, while he served as the President-General between 1989 through 1996.
While condoling with His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and current President-General of NSCIA, the entire Sultanate Council, the Government and people of Sokoto State, and all the members of the family of late Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, we pray that Almighty Allah forgive him all his shortcomings and grant him Jannatal Firdaus, Ameen.
